Jamaican dancehall artiste Konshens, real name Garfield Delano Spence, came together with local artistes for the Castle 120 Years Summer celebrations held at Old Georgians Sports club on Saturday.

Thousands of music fans and merrymakers thronged the venue for the event that saw local and international musicians performing.

The local and international musicians entertained fans throughout the day while there were many other fun games to mark the celebrations.
The event started at 10am and ended around midnight with lots of fun activities that kept people busy while stage acts also attracted attention.

However, there were mixed feelings over Konshens’ performance as some felt he could have done better while sound hiccups during his performance gave the Jamaican a challenging time on stage.

The sound hiccups came towards the end of the show because the generator that was used during the event developed some complications.

Konshens briefly explained the mishap while he was on stage.

“We are told some of the guitars are not functioning well,” said Konshens when he realised the flow of sound was not smooth.
Organisers of the event, Delta Beverages, said the sound situation was beyond their control.

In an interview Delta Beverages marketing manager Patricia Murambinda said they faced technical challenges during the show.

“We were running the event using generator power for the whole day and power challenges caused the sound hiccups. We are happy that we managed to power the event throughout the day using the generator and the challenges were inevitable because the area did not have electricity,” said Murambinda.

However, despite the sound and electricity challenges, musicians that performed did well.
Konshens came after Winky D who had a good day in office and made his presence on stage felt.

He performed old and new hits and many enjoyed the act. He was also clad in a spectacular outfit that made him outstanding.

A number of fans said they enjoyed the party on and off the stage and the day is likely to be memorable for many.

Other artists that performed include Hope Masike, Africa Revenge and Evicted as well as Beatenberg from South Africa, Marco Maggiore Band from Italy and Ivan Mazuze from Mozambique.

The Castle 120 Years Celebrations continue across the country through various promotions that will end on November 10.
