  • Castro is alive, he will feature in my music video – Musician claims

Castro is alive, he will feature in my music video – Musician claims

32291542.295While Ghanaians are still trying to come to terms with the mysterious disappearance of hiplife artiste Castro, a relatively unknown musician claims the rapper is alive and will feature in his new music video.

According to BB Da Boywonda, who claims to have known Castro for more than two decades, the hiplife musician is alive and Ghanaians should expect him in his yet to be released music video soon.

Already, his song, ‘My Lord is Good’, which features Castro, born Theophilus Tagoe, has been making waves and generating controversy.

In the song, Castro is heard thanking God that in spite of all the negative stories, controversies, and even his stubbornness, he is still alive.

The fact that he is still alive is a true manifestation of God’s goodness, he said and added that whoever plots evil against him will not succeed.

The song has ignited some controversy with many asking BB to disclose the whereabouts of Castro, who went missing with a female companion, Janet Bandu, while jet skiing in the waters of Ada Sunday, July 6, 2014.

Castro and Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan were at the Peace Holiday Resort, a beach resort in Ada, together with some friends, for recreation when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Asked how well he knew the hiplife artiste, BB, speaking in an interview with Myjoyonline.com, said “I know Castro very well from childhood we all grew up in the same neighbourhood in Takoradi so we are very close. He is like a big brother to me so I know him very well…for like 20 years now.”

Born Bright Boateng, he revealed that he was with Castro when he was reported missing and says contrary to what has been reported, the award-winning musician is alive.

“I was there with them…I know Ghanaians really know what happened but the little that I can say is my brother is still alive and everybody should calm down. There is a whole lot of rumour going around, but I know the truth will surely come out,” he assured.

He wouldn’t divulge any information as to whether he has spoken to Castro since the incident but as proof that he is not dead, BB quizzed “if someone is dead, at least we should see something of the person [that] he is gone. They said he got drowned, what shows he got drowned?”

The young rapper said people should note that the bodies of Castro and Janet and even their cloths have not been found to back rumours that they are dead.

Several attempts to get the Takoradi-based musician to disclose exactly when he recorded the song ‘My Lord is Good’ with Castro proved futile.

“As we are about to release the video, they will surely know when we recorded the song,” he said.

According to BB, they are about to shoot the video and urged Ghanaians to believe that Castro “is alive and I know he will be part of the video.”

He will, however, also not disclose when the video will be released but added that “my assurance and faith, I will definitely shoot the video with Castro.”

  • Accountability will be my hallmark – GHAMRO Chair, Kojo Antwi

Accountability will be my hallmark – GHAMRO Chair, Kojo Antwi

53490021.295Newly sworn in Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO), Kojo Antwi has promised to be transparent and accountable to all members of the music rights body.

The musician, together with eight other board members, was sworn into office as the new Chairman after he contested the position unopposed in Wednesday’s GHAMRO elections.

About 3,700 members of GHAMRO cast their votes in Accra, Kumasi and Tamale to elect new board members for the music rights body. Wednesday’s elections were the first in GHAMRO’s 25-year history.

Kojo Antwi, who was a member of the GHAMRO board that was dissolved by the Human Rights Courts in July 2014, speaking in an interview with Myjoyonline.com said accountability will be his hallmark.

According to him, unlike Carlos Sakyi, “who served as the referee and the player,” he will be transparent. He promised to put in place measures to help musicians get full rewards for their works.

The Carlos Sakyi-led GHAMRO board has been asked to account for more than GH?1 million said to have been misappropriated.

Asked about the alleged misappropriation of funds, Kojo Antwi said the former board members responsible for managing funds have to account for every penny they used during their tenure. “They need to account [for the money]; this is stakeholders’ money. The money belonged to all of us.”

“I think they are being asked to come and give accounts of their services … whatever we have to do” to get them to account for the funds must be done “because if I don’t live up to the oath [of office], I have to be prosecuted so I expect them to [do same],” he noted.

The music maestro lamented that the revelation by the interim audit report “saddens me…It was a disappointment” because that board was blessed with some of the best hands in the music industry “but [they] failed.”

Kojo Antwi revealed that he will organize a house cleaning exercise and re-register members of the organization.
